Trent Engine Complex Calshot Road - anchors

Client: Singapore Aero Engine Services Pte Ltd (SIA-Rolls Royce)
Architect: Vista
Engineer: Chong & Lee
Main Contractor: Sato Kogyo Co Ltd

Diaphragm Wall: 4,700m2, 0.6m-1.2m thick, 32m deep
Ground Anchors: 88 anchors (extractable)

A retaining wall at the new Trent Engine Overhaul Facility at Changi. The retaining wall is formed with T panels and had two layers of temporary (removable) ground anchors. The diaphragm wall was executed from a raised working platform with a steep access and limited working room. Despite the very tight diaphragm wall programme, 12 weeks overall including mobilisation, the project finished 1 week ahead off schedule allowing the Main Contractor early access to the site. The project was carried out using a conventional diaphragm wall grab 'KL' with a short spell with the hydraulic 'KS' machine to boost production at a critical phase of the work.
